HOW TO CHANGE YOUR STATIC IP
To start off, you need a direct connection to your modem and computer. If you have a router, disconnect it and directly hook up your modem to your computer.
- Open up the command prompt by pressing Start->Run and typing in cmd
- In the command prompt, type âIpconfig/allâ. This will tell you your current IP Address. After, type âipconfig/releaseâ. Keep the command prompt open for easy access.
- Go to âNetwork Connectionsâ (accessible through the control panel). Right click âLocal Area Connectionâ and click âPropertiesâ
- With âInternet Protocol (TCP/IP) selected, click the âPropertiesâ button.
- A new window will open. Under the âGeneralâ tab, select âUse the Following IP addressâ. Under âIp Addressâ, put â10.0.0.1âł. Press the âTabâ key on your keyboard.
- Press Ok on both open windows.
- Repeat steps 3-4. Under the âGeneralâ tab, press the radio button âAutomatically Assign Me an Ip Addressâ. Press ok on both windows.
- Go back to the command prompt and type in âIpconfig/allâ. Youâll now notice you have a new IP address.
So, this will be handy if you want to by-pass Rapidshare 1 hour download limit, provided that you have a static IP address.
